Collinsville Scores In First Four Innings, Wins Season Opener Over Quincy 5-0

SAUGET - Chris Thilman pitched five innings and gave up three hits while striking out six as Collinsville's baseball team won its season opener with a 5-0 win over Quincy in the Prep Baseball Report showcase Wednesday afternoon at GCS Ballpark in Sauget.

The Kahoks scored single runs in the first, second and fourth innings while scoring twice in the third in going on to their season-opening win.

Kolby Anderson had two hits for Collinsville, with a double, stolen base and scored twice, while Darren Pennell also had two hits and a RBI and Ethan Bagwell had a double and two RBIs.

Thilman fanned the side in order in the second and led off the third with another strikeout while on the mound. Ryan Kremer got out of a sixth inning jam to preserve the shutout and Bagwell struck out two in retiring the side in order in the seventh to give the Kahoks the win.

Collinsville is now 1-0 to start the season and returns to GCS Ballpark, the home of the Gateway Grizzlies in the Frontier League, on Friday against Lockport in a 4:30 p.m. start. The Kahoks then finish their PBR schedule against Galesburg Saturday morning at Lloyd Hopkins Field in Alton's Gordon Moore Park in an 11:30 a.m. first pitch, then play at Triad March 21 before their home opener March 24 against Plano, with both games starting at 4...
