The win, the Kahoks' first in four tries this young season, was a reward for the team's hard work and overcoming early adversity during the first weeks of the new season.
"I'm happy for the girls that they got their first win of the season," said first-year Collinsville head coach Jodie Munoz. "They've continuously battled and worked hard and I look forward to building off tonight to get some momentum going into some conference play. We were hit hard by the injury bug early on this year and now we're back to being healthy. Hopefully, it just gets better from here."
Besides Rader's brace, the Kahoks got goals from Jordan Gary, Georgia Cox, Megan Jeremias and Sarah Henze. Gary, Henze, Jeremias, Kyra Van Dyke and Lindsay O'Connor all had assists, while Addy Johnson made two save in goal to have her first clean sheet of the season.
The Bulldogs are now 0-5-0, while the Kahoks gain their first three points of the season and are 1-3-0. Collinsville opens its Southwestern Conference season Thursday night at Belleville East in a 5 p.m. kickoff, then plays at Columbia Saturday afternoon in a 1:30 p.m. start.
