Kahoks Softball Team Splits Doubleheader With Sacred Heart-Griffin, Loses Opener 17-1,Wins Nightcap 14-4

COLLINSVILLE - The Collinsville girls softball team split a doubleheader with Springfield Sacred Heart-Griffin Catholic at home on Saturday morning and evening, losing the first game 17-1, but bounced back to take the nightcap 14-4.

In the first game, the Cyclones jumped out to an 8-0 lead with two runs in the first and six more in the third, with the Kahoks scoring their only run of the game in the bottom of the third. SH-G then scored nine times in the fourth inning and ended the game after the fourth due to the 15-run rule.

Allix Jakich had a hit and drove home the only run of the opener, while Lexi Rafalowski, Mackenzie Young and Maddie Harris had the only other hits for Collinsville. Marissa Thomas struck out two batters while in the circle for the Kahoks and Maya Clark fanned one.
In the second game, the Cyclones jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first, but Collinsville countered with one run in the second to cut the lead to 3-1. SH-G scored a single run in the top of the third to make it 4-1, then the Kahoks exploded for 11 runs in the bottom of the third to go ahead 12-4, then scored twice more in the bottom of the fourth as Thomas struck out the side in the top of the fifth to clinch the win, due to the 10-run rule.

Brylee Andertson led the way for Collinsville with three hits and two RBIs, while Brianna Wellen had two hits and three RBIs, Clark came up with two hits and two RBIs, Young also had two hits and drove home a run, Jakich had a hit and two RBIs, Rafalowski came up with a hit and Harris also drove in a run.
