Kahoks Girls Softball Team Has Busy Week This Week, Knock Out 14 Hits On Friday

COLLINSVILLE - Collinsville's girls softball team has a busy week this week as it plays East St. Louis on Tuesday and hosts Alton on Thursday. The Kahoks travel to Breese Central on Friday. All the games start at 4:30 p.m.

The Kahoks softball team used a 14-hit attack and scored three runs in the final three innings to help defeat Jersey 14-9 in a game played Friday afternoon in Jersey.

The Kahoks jumped to a 1-0 lead in the top of the first, with the Panthers scoring twice in the home half. Collinsville scored twice in both the second and third innings before Jersey countered in the bottom of the third with three runs, then scored twice more in the fourth to take a 7-5 lead. The Kahoks scored three runs each in the fifth, sixth and seventh, while the Panthers came up with two in the bottom of the sixth, but couldn't come closer as Collinsville took the win.

Maddie Harris and Mackenzie Young both had two hits and three RBIs for the Kahoks, while Bailey Demick had two hits, including her first home run of the season, and two RBIs, while both Brylee Anderton and Maya Clark also had two hits and drove home a pair of runs each, Katie Bardwell and Brianna Wellen both had a hit and RBI apiece and Emma Hylton and Allix Jakich each had a base hit.
