Collinsville Girls Softball Team Scores In Fifth and Sixth Innings, Holds Off Alton 3-2

COLLINSVILLE - Collinsville scored single runs in the third, fifth and sixth innings as the Kahoks held off an Alton rally to take a 3-2 win in a Southwestern Conference softball game Thursday afternoon at the Collinsville Sports Complex.

The Kahoks took a 1-0 lead with a run in the bottom of the third inning, with both teams trading runs in the fifth and Collinsville scoring what proved to be the winning run in the sixth before the Redbirds scored once in the seventh, but the Kahoks managed to hold on to take the win.

Brylee Anderton had two hits and drove in all three runs to pace Collinsville, while Mackenzie Young also had two hits and both Brianna Wellen and Emma Hylton each had a hit.

Marissa Thomas threw a complete game in the circle, allowing two runs on six Alton hits, one run earned, while striking out four.

The Kahoks are now 5-4 on the year and are scheduled to play at Breese Central on Friday in a 4:30 p.m. start, then travel to Waterloo for a doubleheader Saturday at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Collinsville then plays at O'Fallon on Apr. 12 and hosts Belleville East Apr. 14, with ...
